Got a long form video you’ve been running that’s just not working like it used to?
We heard directly from Google today what we have long suspected:
“YouTube is updating its algorithm to better account for the role ad length can play in view annoyance in an effort to improve ad experience across in-stream environments. Advertisers will need increasingly competitive bids to serve as ad length increases.”
It makes sense from Google’s perspective. Longer in-stream video ads represent a missed opportunity to show more ads on a given piece of content.
To sum up: time to tighten up your short form video creative game!
Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more from Google...
