Last week, Max — our Head of Product — hosted a live session breaking down the top YouTube ads from Q1 2026.

Here's what he found when he sorted the last 90 days by estimated ad spend:
- Shorter is winning. Most of the top spenders are under 1 minute. The 2-5-minute mid-form video that used to dominate? Largely gone from the top of the list. (There are exceptions — Max also walked through a 22-minute VSL still printing money — but the trend is clear.)
- Vertical is dominant. The majority of top-spending ads are in a vertical format. If you're still defaulting to horizontal, you're fighting a headwind.
- Quiz funnels are everywhere. Almost every high-spend landing page Max linked to was a quiz. Not a sales page. Not a VSL landing. A quiz. He breaks down why this funnel structure is working and what the ads feeding them look like.
Max is also sharing the spreadsheet from the session — the same one he built while pulling this research together. And he walks through how he actually runs the search — date ranges, unlisted ad filters, brand-level analysis — so you can replicate the process yourself in any niche.
